About

I’m Berry and I first discovered my love for greyhounds in early 2019, when I volunteered for my local kennels as a dog walker. There was something about the misunderstood nature of greyhounds that made me want to help them – the misconceptions of their breed that can come with their time as racers. After volunteering for a short time, I soon realised that these creatures were docile, gentle and very goofy indeed!

My husband and I did not think we could rehome a retired greyhound ourselves, as we lived in a flat. Boy, was this a total misunderstanding on our part! After talking to the wonderful kennel manager, she explained to us that so many people do not realise the main character trait that comes with nearly every greyhound – how lazy they are! Once she explained that a greyhound would be extremely happy in a smaller home, with frequent walks and lots of love, we were sold. By chance, we met Niko the following week and the rest is history…

After adopting our fabulous boy in October 2019, we offered to foster for our local kennels during the national lockdown that began in March 2020. Since then, we have frequently fostered for our kennels and have become massive advocates and believers in the beauty and spirit of greyhounds.
